Selling old office furniture in Delhi NCR is easier than most people expect — there is a large, active market for used workstations, chairs and storage. But the price you get depends a lot on how you go about it. This guide walks through the process we see work best for offices of every size.
1. Make a simple list
You do not need a full inventory. A buyer mainly wants to know:
- How many workstations or seats there are, and roughly what type (linear, cluster, cubicle)
- How many chairs, and whether most of them match
- Cabins: how many, and whether they have full executive sets
- Storage: steel almirahs, pedestals, compactors, credenzas
- Anything else that has to go — ACs, UPS, partitions, false ceiling
A two-minute video walk-through on WhatsApp is often more useful than a spreadsheet.
2. Decide what is staying
If you are moving some furniture to your new office, mark those items clearly before any buyer visits. It avoids confusion on pickup day and lets the buyer price exactly what is on offer.
3. Get a site visit, not just a phone quote
For anything more than a handful of items, ask the buyer to visit. A phone quote has to allow for surprises, so it is usually lower. A buyer who has seen the furniture, the lift and the loading area can commit to a firmer, higher price.
4. Understand how the price is worked out
A buyer adds up what can be resold, what goes for scrap, and subtracts what it will cost to dismantle, carry and transport. That is why the same chair can fetch different prices in two offices: one has a goods lift and a loading bay, the other is on the fourth floor of a building with a narrow staircase. 5. Agree the date around your handover
Work backwards from the date your landlord needs the keys. Leave a buffer day. Check building rules — many commercial buildings in Connaught Place, Nehru Place and Cyber City only allow goods movement after hours or on Sundays.
6. Get paid before the truck leaves
Insist on payment on the day, before material leaves your premises, and a written receipt listing what was sold. A genuine buyer will have no problem with this — it is how we work on every job.
7. Leave the space clean
Ask the buyer to remove dismantling debris and leave the floor swept. If the lease asks for bare-shell handover, confirm the buyer can also remove partitions, false ceiling and flooring — see our office dismantling service.
